(Videos+Photos) Israel and Palestine war by morning May 17, 2021
🔸The confrontation between the Israel Defense Forces and groups operating in the Gaza Strip continues for the seventh day. During the night of May 16-17, the Israeli Air Force hit over a hundred targets. Militants continue to fire one volley after another, with both Hamas and Islamic Jihad methodically shelling nearby areas. The Israel Defense Forces said they were acting with “necessary strength.” Over the past day, strikes have been made on the homes of field commanders of Hamas battalions in Kfar Jabaliya, Beit Hanoun, Gaza and Ash-Shatii. Eyewitnesses report that at times the Israeli Air Force is hitting the same firing positions that were struck in 2019 and 2020.
🔸 Civilians continue to die as a result of Israeli airstrikes. According to Palestinian sources, the chief neurosurgeon of Gaza, Muin al-Alul, the head of the operational headquarters for the response to COVID-19 of the largest hospital in Gaza, Ayman al-Auf, and the psychologist Rajaa Abu al-Auf, along with children, were killed. It is difficult to check how such reports correspond to reality: the reports officially published by the Gaza Ministry of Health the total number of martyrs and wounded in the Gaza Strip: 197 martyrs, including 58 children, 34 women and 1,235 wounded. In the Gaza Strip, the entire energy infrastructure went out of order at night.
🔸 A Palestinian crashed a car into a checkpoint in Sheikh Jarrah. There was also an attempt to commit a terrorist attack in Kiryat Arba. Two Jordanians with knives entered Israel across the border.
🔸 During the celebration of Shavut, the tribune in the synagogue in Givat Zeev collapsed – the building was overcrowded.
🔸 The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades have published a video of a pro-Hamas rally with their militants in the West Bank. Radicals don’t stop trying to plunge the eastern territories into chaos – leaflets and posters are distributed on the Internet with calls to “become a fire that will burn the occupier.”
🔸 All statements about the inadmissibility of the continuation of the conflict continue to remain so. There is no real pressure on either Hamas with the Islamic Jihad or Israel. Houthi rallies of solidarity with Palestine were announced in Yemen, marches were held in Canada, Spain,UK and other countries – clashes occur at rallies (for example, a rabbi was attacked in London). There is no practical sense in solidarity. The United States is trying to mediate and trying to reconcile the parties in order to win the laurels of a peacemaker again. Hamas has bluntly stated that it is ready to agree to a truce only on its own terms, and if Israel doesn’t stop, the group will not stop shelling either.
🔸 Condemnation of strikes on high-rise buildings in the Gaza Strip continues – for example, Reporters Without Borders appealed to the International Criminal Court to determine whether the destruction of the Al-Jalaa , where the Al-Jazeera branches and The Associated Press, war crime.
🔸 According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, 197 people have died in the Gaza Strip since the escalation began. Among them are 58 children.
