Venezuela’s GNB foiled attack on a military post on the border with Colombia
Members of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) detained eight individuals who tried to attack a military post in Ureña (Táchira’s), military sources said.
Two pistols were seized : a Prieto Beretta caliber 9mm, model 8040 and another 9mm, Browning, not visible serial numbers. In addition, the men carried 25 cartridges caliber 7.62X39 mm. without firing, 53 9 mm caliber cartridges, 5 pistol magazines and a binocular, the source detailed.
The detainees were identified as Yeferson Arley Mora Martínez, Wilker Tisiera Rodríguez, Oscar Mosqueda Figueredo, Henrry Mendoza Gilarte, Eduar Alexander Santana Matera, Javier Alejandro Oviedo González, Gabriel Antonio Solórzano Monsalve and Ever Antonio Mejía.
According to the initial investigations, the subjects intended to attack 3rd Company facilities, Detachment 212 of the GNB based in Ureña, a town in Táchira’s state on the border with Colombia. The source procedure notified to the Public Ministry where they opened a file for illicit possession of war material, illicit possession of firearms and criminal association.
In Ureña is located the Francisco de Paula Santander binational bridge, which communicates with Cúcuta, Colombia. At that site they burned two trucks with alleged “humanitarian aid” it’s sought to enter Venezuela on February 23, 2019, opposition groups endorsed by presidents Iván Duque (Colombia), Sebastián Piñera (Chile) and Mario Benítez (Paraguay).
