Spanish Transport Helicopter Battalion V, (BHELTRA-V) check it out
Transport Helicopter Battalion V, (BHELTRA-V) is located at the “Coronel Maté” Base, located at kilometer 1,800 of the regional highway (M 607) from Colmenar Viejo to Guadalix de la Sierra (M-625), north of the province of Madrid, in the municipality of Colmenar Viejo.

This Transport Helicopter Battalion as the operator of the CH-47D Chinook (HT.17) is thus in charge of providing all combat logistical support capabilities, deploying for this purpose throughout the national territory, as well as in international missions. in which the FAMET (The Army Airmobile Force is the army aviation branch of the Spanish Army. An Independent Army Aviation force was formed in 1965 as Aviación Ligera del Ejército de Tierra and renamed FAMET in 1973) participate and have participated.

It is easy to see a Chinook at any point in Spain collaborating with a Helicopter Infantry Unit transporting sections, companies, etc., with an Artillery Unit transporting its pieces, with the Parachute Brigade carrying out launches, with an Engineers Unit transporting its equipment, with the Legion or with the Special Operations Command, since its versatility makes it and the battalion a machine and a unit capable of adapting to the missions carried out by the Spanish army.
