Russia will hold military parades across the country to mark the 76th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War on May 9, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced Thursday.
More than 12,500 soldiers, more than 190 units of military weapons and equipment and 76 aircraft will participate in the major military parade on Red Square in Moscow, Shoigu said at a meeting of the ministry’s board of directors.
In addition to Moscow, there will be military parades in 27 other cities in the country, with the participation of more than 47,000 soldiers, about 1,600 units of military equipment and more than 200 aircraft, he said.
Celebrations with the participation of soldiers will take place in 377 cities and towns on Victory Day, he added.
