The Palestinian Islamic Jihad boasts its most powerful homemade missile, named after prominent Iranian general Qasem Soleimani.
Khaled al-Batash, a member of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, highlighted on Monday the military advance of the Palestinian groups and highlighted that the Resistance used new generation and homemade rockets during the offensive of “Sword of Al- Quds ”, an operation launched in May by Palestinian fighters from the Gaza Strip due to the bloody Israeli attacks on the residents of Al-Quds (Jerusalem).
“One of the missiles used by the Palestinian Resistance in the last battle against Israel is ‘Qasem’ and it is our most powerful weapon. The rocket is named after the martyr Qasem Soleimani for his support and services rendered [to the Palestinian Resistance] ”, the Palestinian leader stressed in an interview with the Iranian news agency Mehr News.
Prominent General Soleimani, former commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in a US attack in January 2020 in Baghdad (capital of Iraq). This prominent military man is a symbol of the resistance and fight against terrorism and the hegemonic policies of Israel and the United States in Western Asia.
The ‘Qasem’ missile is capable of carrying explosive charges of up to 400 kg, Al-Batash noted, adding that the sophisticated weapon represented one of the main surprises of the Palestinian Resistance forces for the Israeli regime in the 12 days battle.
Israel is much weaker than you think
He has stressed that the “Israeli regime is much weaker than imagined” and has warned that the Palestinian Resistance is powerful enough to win major strategic victories against Israel.
On May 15, the Al-Quds Brigades, a military branch of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, reported using a wide variety of new-generation surface-to-surface missiles, including the “Qasem”, in recent attacks on sensitive targets in Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities in retaliation for the continued bombardment of that regime against the Gaza Strip.
Israel announced on May 20 that its cabinet unanimously accepted a ceasefire, “without conditions”, which was also confirmed by Palestinian groups in Gaza.
For its part, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS) has warned Israel that it has not yet disclosed all of its missiles and military capabilities. “Certainly, there are always more [missiles], and our Resistance fights with insight, and puts its cards where and when necessary […] Much of the Resistance did not directly enter the battle,” emphasized the deputy head of the political leadership. from HAMAS, Musa Abu Marzuq, in remarks given to the daily Al-Quds Al-Arabi on Sunday.
