This Tuesday -March 23- from “El Libertador” Air Base, the post-mortem promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel was made to Major Edward Ramón Corobo Segovia and, to Captain, First Lieutenant Yonathan Miguel Duarte. Both Officers served as Second Commander of the 991 Special Forces Battalion “Tcnel. Eliécer Otaiza ”and as Platoon Commander of the 923 Caribbean Battalion“ Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho Antonio José de Sucre ”, respectively. Coroba and Duarte offered their lives for the faithful fulfillment of the sacred duty to defend national sovereignty, attached to the firm intention of continuing to build a new frontier of peace, to guarantee the well-being, security and development of the Venezuelan people.

For his part, the sectoral vice president of Political Sovereignty, Security and Peace and Minister of Popular Power for Defense, General in Chief Vladimir Padrino López, accompanied by Admiral in Chief Remigio Ceballos Ichaso, Strategic Operational Commander of the FANB, the Major Generals and Admirals, members of the Superior General Staff of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, paid an emotional posthumous tribute to the brave soldiers who fell in combat.
