As reported by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, the organizers of the military exercises highlighted the high dynamics of development of interaction of the armed forces of Russia and Mongolia in the military-technical fields aimed at consolidating the capacity of defense and national security of the two countries.

The exercise “Selenga 2020” for the first time was held simultaneously in two polygons of Russia and Mongolia from 27 to 31 October. the subject of the exercise was the fight against international terrorism.

The Russian Armed Forces involved some 650 military personnel and more than 100 pieces of equipment. The Mongolian Armed Forces, for their part, participated with some 450 people and more than 100 pieces of equipment.

During these maneuvers, units of the 16th Motorized Rifle Brigade named after Marshal H. Choibalsan of the Mongolian Army actively operated Unimog U5000 military trucks with a 4×4 wheel arrangement produced by the German group Daimler AG. Since 2015, the German federal government has donated around 100 Mercedes-Benz all-terrain vehicles of various modifications and around 80 Unimog U 5000 military trucks from the Bundeswehr to Mongolia as free military aid.
