Six soldiers died this Sunday, February 21, 2021 when the Mexican Air Force aircraft in which they were traveling crashed, in the eastern state of Veracruz, local authorities reported. The events occurred at 09:45 local time (17:45 GMT) near to El Lencero Airport in the municipality of Emiliano Zapata, an area surrounding the city of Xalapa, capital of the state of Veracruz.

Official reports indicate that the Learjet aircraft with registration number 3912, belonging to the Secretariat of National Defense of Mexico, went off the runway and crashed on vacant land. The Learjet caught fire immediately, killing all six of its crew, including the pilot and copilot. The victims were members of the armed forces.
