Less than two days after the news was released that the PLA People’s Liberation Army had placed military equipment on the border with India, a response followed.
To counter the Chinese threat in the area adjacent to the disputed border between the two countries, India has deployed multiple “Pinaka” and “Smerch” rocket launch systems (MLRS).
A battery of six Pinaka launchers is capable of firing a salvo of 72 missiles in 44 seconds. The affected area of the territory is 1000 x 800 meters. The shooting range is up to 38 km.
MLRS “Smerch” is a missile system with a maximum firing range in the arsenal of the Indian army (90 km). The four-launcher battery is capable of firing a salvo of 48 missiles in 40 seconds, reaching an area of 1200 x 1200 m.
