A large number of activists attended the conference on Latin America entitled “A continent under pressure” on Saturday, September 28, in Frankfurt.

It was organized by the student association “Die Linke SDS Frankfurt”, “Frankfurt Left Youth”, association “Cuba Yes” and by the deputy of the German parliament Achim Kessler of the die Linke party.

The event was attended by deputies Achim Kessler and Heike Hänsel, both members of the Die Linke party and the parliament in Berlin. Also present were the German philosopher Arnold Schölzel and the journalist André Scheer.

During his presentation he condemned the attacks currently suffered by left-wing governments in the region: Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba and Bolivia.

He mentioned that “these attacks are carried out with all kinds of methods, which have been reinforced by the administration of Donald Trump, who has even made direct threats of the use of military force and the application of illegal sanctions.”

Finally, many participants used the conference to establish contacts and hope to continue the meetings.
