The ship was patrolling the western Pacific

Within 90 minutes of the fire being extinguished, five crew members were injured and immediately returned to the Japanese port of Yokosuka to repair and investigate the incident.

Ships of this type are designed to ensure national security, protection of territorial waters, protection of fisheries and the environment, search and rescue operations and assistance to those in need.
