The Bolivarian National Armed Forces report that within the framework of the Bolivarian Shield operation 2021, specifically the fragmentary order Lanceros de Apure executed by the Strategic Operational Command with units attached to the Strategic Region of Integral Defense Los Llanos; During yesterday, Sunday March 21,2021, clashes were held with Colombian irregular armed groups in the La Coromoto sector, Rafael Urdaneta parish of the José Antonio Páez municipality, Apure state.

As a result of these encounters, one of the leaders known as “El Nando” was neutralized, thirty-two (32) subjects were captured, six (06) camps were destroyed, and weapons, ammunition, explosives, war supplies, vehicles and drugs were confiscated. Likewise, it is made known that several military personnel were injured, to whom the corresponding medical attention is being given at the present time. In the same way, the unfortunate death of Major Edward Ramón Corobo Segovia CIV- 14,443,844, plaza of the 911 Special Forces Battalion “lieutenant colonel Eliezer Otaiza”, and First Lieutenant Yonathan Miguel Duarte CIV- 19,901,693, who served as Commander of the Second Company of the 923 Caribbean Battalion “Sucre”; We express the most sincere words of condolences to the relatives, friends and comrades in arms of these courageous officers, who offered their lives in the field of honor, fulfilling the sacred duty of defending the Homeland.

Military units with the support of state security agencies continue to carry out search and persecution operations in the area. In this sense, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces reiterates to all the Venezuelan people, the strict compliance with the order issued by citizen Nicolás Maduro Moros, Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, our Commander in Chief, of zero tolerance against this type of criminal groups; as well as the unavoidable commitment to continue fighting the transnational crimes of paramilitarism, drug trafficking and any other that they intend to carry out in our territory, deploying all the operational capacities available to guarantee peace, sovereignty and national independence.
