Ethiopia gives Tigray forces 72 hours before attack!
He wrote in a tweet on his social media account “Twitter”, addressing regional forces: “We ask you to surrender peacefully within 72 hours, recognizing that you have reached the point of no return.”
A military spokesman said earlier in the day that the Ethiopian army plans to besiege the capital of the rebel-controlled Tigray region with tanks and may use artillery to bombard the city in a bid to end the war that has been in happening for about three weeks, and urged civilians to protect themselves.
The Tigray Popular Liberation Front, which refuses to end its rule in the Northern Territory, said its forces were digging trenches and firmly engaging government forces.
Federal forces of the Prime Minister’s government managed to control a number of villages through aerial bombardment and ground battles, and are currently heading towards Mikkeli, the provincial capital, a mountainous city of some 500,000 people and where the rebels are stationed.
The war claimed hundreds of lives, pushed more than 30,000 refugees into neighboring Sudan, and saw rebels fire rockets into the neighboring Amhara region and cross the border into Eritrea.
