President Maduro settles the National Defense Council and the State Council to defend the Venezuelan Essequibo
The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, participated this Thursday in a working session with authorities that make up the National Defense Council (CODENA) and the Council of State, the highest consultation bodies of the National Public Power, in order to analyze the current context of threat to territorial integrity due to imperialist interference against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and to declare a permanent session of these State organs for the defense of Guayana Esequiba.
“We officially installed the permanent session and consultation of the Defense Council and the Council of State to address what has to do with the unfortunate, infamous and unfair unlawful decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which it took against Venezuela in relation to Guayana Esequiba, on December 18, 2020, 3 weeks ago ”, said the National President.
From the Miraflores Palace, in Caracas, the meeting brought together members of the Executive Cabinet, heads of the five Public Powers and members of the FANB’s Superior General Staff. In addition, the Head of State reported that there were the members of the Special Commissions and Foreign Policy of the National Assembly (AN) appointed this Thursday by the Legislative Power, to address the issue of Essequibo.
“This Defense Council is installed with all the power of the Venezuelan State in permanent and joint session to make a large consultation to the entire country, the law schools, organizations, experts on the subject of territorial defense and the Essequibo”, reported the National President.
The consultation is part of the fight against the colonial dispossession of a territory that has always belonged and will continue to belong to Venezuelans, he explained through media’s cameras.
In addition, he announced that he signed letters addressed to the Secretary General of the UN, so that he retakes what is established in the 1966 Geneva Agreement and vindicates the historical rights of Venezuela, to solve the territorial difference with Guyana in a friendly way and through the necessary dialogue.
He announced that this ceremony was held this Thursday, due to the need to wait for the installation of the new Legislative Branch, after the December 6 elections.
He explained that the Council will listen to everyone to reinforce Venezuela’s position before international organizations, the defense of the country, and our historical rights over Guayana Esequiba. “This is how it should be and I call it to be!”
In accordance with constitutional articles, the advisory bodies on matters of national interest and issues related to the integral defense of the Nation, guarantee the protection of the Republic against any interference that seeks to destabilize or coerce the free expression of the will of the people. In addition, its considerations strengthen the consciousness and organization of the Venezuelan people both in its sectoral and territorial dimensions, in order to guarantee the integral defense of the Homeland.
