Raúl congratulates Cuba Central Army on the 60th anniversary of its foundation.
The army general and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) sent a congratulatory letter on occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the military institution.

“May this anniversary be a reason to continue improving the work in all orders and advance towards higher goals,” said Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, in his congratulatory words on occasion of the 60th anniversary of founded the Central Army (EC), whose political act and military ceremony were held this Saturday at the Comandante Andrés Cuevas Heredia Provincial Defense Preparation School, in Villa Clara.

Dear comrades of the Central Army:
Today we commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Central Army founded by the unforgettable Commander of the Revolution Juan Almeida Bosque.
His units were the first to engage in combat at Playa Girón, ease the entry of the revolutionary forces and promoting the first great defeat of Yankee imperialism in America.
Recalling the path traveled by that army assists us with infinite respect for those who have fallen in the line of duty, and a deep feeling of gratitude towards the founders and all those who from their ranks have contributed to the defense of the Revolution.
May this anniversary be a reason to continue perfecting the work in all orders and move towards higher goals.

In his words, Raúl recalled the unforgettable Commander of the Revolution Juan Almeida, founder of the EC, the historical role of the army in battle against the mercenary invasion of Playa Girón, the fallen in the line of duty and “a deep feeling of gratitude towards the founders ».
Chaired by the Vice Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), General of the Army Corps Joaquín Quintas Solá and the presence of presidents of the provincial defense councils of the central region, government leaders, main heads of the Ministry of the Armed Forces Revolutionaries, from the Central Army, the Ministry of the Interior and the Union of Young Communists (UJC), several recognitions and promotions were made in the activity.
On behalf of officers and soldiers, Captain Mailín Díaz Monteagudo expressed that the current generation of soldiers, inspired by the legacy of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, in Marti’s ideology and as continuators of the combatants who constituted the EC, will stand firm in the defense of the Revolution and ready to face any threat from the enemies of the homeland.
At the ceremony, Quintas Solá presented the Central Army with a diploma signed by the FAR minister, Army Corps General Leopoldo Cintra Frías.
