FARC militants have published a video of Venezuelan soldiers kidnapped during the fighting in Apure state. It happened on April 23, the video was supposedly recorded on May 4, 2021, but out of eight kidnapped, only five are present in the frame. Notably, the soldiers is forced to ask for negotiations to end hostilities.
Venezuela has already offered an official statement on the matter (there is a video, all 8 ) and Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López declared that Venezuela’s sovereignty is non-negotiable and their transnational business will continue to be fought in Venezuelan territory.
The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) will not rest until recovering the eight soldiers, who were captured by Colombian armed irregular groups, during the operation “Bolivarian Shield 2021” in Apure state.
The statement was made this Saturday, May 15, by the Strategic Operational Commander of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (CEOFANB), A / C Remigio Ceballos, on his Twitter account, where he assured that “we will fight with force against the enemies from Venezuela”.
Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza reported that the Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Relations has advanced the coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross (CICR) in Venezuela, in order to achieve a safe and prompt release of Venezuelan soldiers.
In his account on the social network Twitter, Arreaza expressed his gratitude to the aforementioned committee “for their professionalism and rigor”, in this action, in reference to the expected release of eight military professionals, who, executing the operation “Bolivarian Shield 2021” in the Apure state, were captured by Colombian irregular armed groups.
